FIVE DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES Allah's names offer us a
perspective encompassing the whole. To see the big picture, we examined each
name through five different perspectives. Definition of Allah's
names and the message they convey through the Qur’an: First, we examined each
name through the perspective of the Qur’an. After defining each name with
reference to the Qur’an, we highlight their message within the total meaning
of the Qur’an. Interpreting Allah's names
in the book of the universe: The second perspective we look at is the
perspective of the universe. This section generally answers the following
questions: How to interpret the book
of the universe guided by the names of Allah? How to contemplate with
the guidance of the names of Allah? How to transform each name
into the ziqr of one and only Allah (tawhid)? How are the messages of
the names carried into the practices of life and experiences? In this section, the
universe becomes a mosque, and each name becomes a witness and a remembrancer
within that mosque. The manifestation of
Allah’s names in our Prophet Muhammad (pbuh): This perspective guides us in
embodying the names of Allah. In this section, each name is embodied and
manifests itself as a beautiful character through our Prophet (peace be upon
him). What do Allah’s names say
to me?: In this perspective, the names build us. Each name becomes an orator,
and they address us. Praying with the names of Allah: This
perspective serves as our verbal prayer, complementing the practical prayers
indicated in the other perspectives.
